  1. Make a summer bucket list
I like to get everyone’s thoughts on their ideal summer and what their priorities and wish list. I try make at least a few of their wishes come true, within reason 😉
  2.  Pick flowers from your yard
The home we live in now came with a beautiful garden filled with roses, hibiscus, and daisies. We love being able to watch them to grow and picking them for our neighbors. If you don’t have a garden or space for one. Small, simple plants (even indoor) would be fun as well. Most nurseries have employees who are happy to help you pick out something reasonable.
  3. Go for a family walk                               We did this a lot during the beginning of the pandemic when everything was shut down and it has been something we continue to love doing.
  4. Make bubble art My kids loved bubbles when they were toddlers as they have gotten older (twins are 8, Anya’s 10) still love bubbles but like to create art with them. Seeing how big your bubble can get or how many bubbles or how many bubbles you can combine can create a fun game.
  5. Draw a mural with sidewalk Sidewalk chalk is always a hot for us. Recently the kids have loved re creating scenes from movies or even just their imagination with the chalk.

6. Squirt bottle water game  Kids games and toys can really be pricy, I have noticed how much fun kids have with the simplest things. Fill up some clean squirt bottle (or buy new $1 ones!) fill with water and enjoy a water war!

7. Play catch with the family

Such a simple activity but always so fun. activity but always so fun. We like to do things like call each other silly names as we throw the ball, or say something nice about the other person before throwing or throw in age order.

8. Backyard scavenger hunt

This can be so fun and we have discovered things in our yard that we didn’t even know were there! You can make “sticky belts” by putting inside out masking tape around the kids waists for them to put their outdoor treasures on!

9. Play hide and go seek in the dark

This is an activity I recommend doing in pairs (ideally parent/kid teams!) and so much fun and a lil scary, kids seem to love that 😉

10. Go backyard camping

Kids seem to love camping but if its not feasible to rent out a camp site it may be almost as much fun to pitch a tent in your own backyard. If you don’t have a backyard, making tents with pillows and blankets and having a movie night turned into living room sleepover!

I really hope you are able to get some fun and simple ideas to make summer even more enjoyable! I will definitely be doing a part two (so stay tuned!) and please comment here or on my instagram post with your favorite summer ideas!

Happy Summer!!!
